1. Grammar (སྒྲ་རིག་པ་)

Traditionally, grammar involved the study of Sanskrit, the source language of Mahayana Buddhism. Since most of the original Sanskrit Buddhist manuscripts were destroyed during the Muslim conquest of India, most of these texts are now only extant in Tibetan language, in addition to the native Tibetan commentaries. Thus, we are promoting mainly the study of Tibetan language in order to be able to understand one’s own practice texts directly. We also included some Sanskrit resources as it is still valuable.

Self-Paced Classical Tibetan Course

We offer a self-paced online Introduction to Classical Tibetan course catered for beginners. It starts by teaching how to read the uchen script, progressing to vocabulary and basic grammar. It targets individuals interested in reciting their daily prayers and practices in the Tibetan language. Participants will receive digital files containing all essential materials and access to an instructor who will address queries and review submitted homework during the course. The course also includes memorization techniques and files containing suggested prayers for one’s daily practice. While a suggested donation of USD 100 to 200 is recommended, we encourage those facing financial constraints to reach out and explain their circumstances. Colloquial Tibetan Classes with Native Speakers

For individuals interested in emphasizing colloquial Tibetan language skills, we provide online private classes conducted by native Tibetan speakers. Given that conversational Tibetan proficiency thrives on speaking practice, we recommend an 8-week booking – comprising 3 one-hour sessions per week – to gauge progress. The cost is USD 12 per class. Please note that this is a suggested plan, and we remain flexible to accommodate students’ schedules and availability for lessons. If you wish to sign up or if you have any questions please email:
